seat webbing issue

I have just bought one of those diaphram webbing rubbers for my 1963 drivers seat.
The rear of the seat appears to have been welded and I cant see how the clips from the webbing would fix as the horizontal bar appears to be lower than the other 3 sides meaning that at the back of the seat the clips would cause the sponge sits lower at the back of the seat am I missing another bar higher up ? I expected the clips to be level all round ??[frame][/frame]

sure when I did mine the frame was level all round(I'll have a look later) Could be the seat has been modded so that it was lower at the back,(6'6'' driver) You may need to get the welder out.

Thanks yes you might be right Ive put the webbing on and it looks ok, the new seat cushions seem to lack the chamfered edge that the old ones had and for the life of me I cant get the round rubber strip in the curved lip at the front - tried heat washing up liquid its just not having it !

diaphragms are firmer and last longer than the straps so a worthwhile upgrade if doing the seats

looking at my photos the back bar appears lower that the side bars, but it is difficult to tell how much lower.. could you measure the difference between the two?

These diaphrams replace the webbing completely seems quite a good idea. It seems to look ok height wise but I have a big issue with the shape at the front my original foam had a curved lip which fitted under the front vinyl band (mine are duo tone seats) whereas the new foam is just flat meaning I have a 90 degree ledge at the front has anyone else come against this problem ? Are the foam inserts just for fully vinyl seats only ?[frame][/frame]

If the bar has been moved down, there will surely be some tell-tale evidence of where it was before?

When I replaced the seats on my two tone seats I cut the front section off the foam and glued it onto the new bit of foam, otherwise the seat isnt filled enough at the front.

Electric 'carving' knife does a good job on foam!

Thanks for the advice according to ESM they came originally as flat top but as mentioned it leaves an odd void at the top and an angle at the front so I cut a piece out and spray glued it on. Looks ok from a distance
