Ive taken apart my front suspension to the point where i can replace all the bushes except the eye bolt ones. I'm a little confused as to the procedure of getting to them. The torsion bar is now 'unloaded', but how do i get to those bushes without taking the bar out. Do I need to remove it from its mounting half way along the car? An idiot proof explanation much appreciated
Before you knock it back make sure you mark the torsion bar and wishbone so that if it slips off the splines when you hit it back you know exactly were to put it back as these splines adjust the height that the car sits by something over an inch.
Yes, knock the rear wishbone back on the splines with a big hammer and block of wood. Knock it back enough so that the torsion bar can be dropped away from the eye bolt. You will see that the inside of the rear wishbone is an interference fit on the "cup" washer bolted to then end of the eye bolt shackle pin, the bushes go between spindle and eye bolt itself, check the eye bolt and shackle pin for metal on metal wear and ovality.
soaking the splines with penetrating fluid before hand helps a lot too.
