Re: sloppy gear change
1098 or 948 gearbox? If the 948 lever is used in the 1098 box that gives a very sloppy selection.

Re: sloppy gear change
Giving it an oil change will help, it does make a noticeable difference.

Take the lever out and have a look - there should be a plastic bush on the end and a spring, as well as the O ring. See items 22/23/24.... http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewP ... exID=17075

Re: sloppy gear change
Here's the difference between the two gear levers. I didn't realise there was any until I could not engage reverse in my 1275 box. The upper lever is the one to use for the 1098/1275 box, the lower for the 948
As has been said above, check for the presence of the 'O' ring and plastic cup which the end of the gear lever fits into. Also make sure there is a small anti- rattle spring and plunger pressing on the side of the gear lever from the neck of the gearbox extension otherwise the stick will vibrate like mad.
If this fails to make it better the fault may be down to excessive wear in the selector forks.

Re: sloppy gear change
Thanks for all the response I will check the gearlever and change the oil as I don't know when it was last done
I'm hoping to get it on the road for a couple of months this year and then tuck it away and maybe do a couple of events next year ., I don't think it will be a show winner but very presentable is my aim
