how complicated is the procedure for switching to a negative earth? and rough cost?
i have a pull start on my 1958 minor, and am thinking of switching to an electronic ignition with a negative earth.

Re: negative earth conversion
virtually nil cost
the only thing are the battery connectors at the top you will need new ones as the neg and positive are different diameters
I believe there is a sticky on this if not it is in tech tips on here

Very easy - as Dennis says - you may need new connectors and possibly easier to fit a new earth lead complete to the -ve terminal. You will need to re-polarise the dynamo, reverse the coil connections, and clean the dizzy points and the fuel pump points... Hopefully you don't have an electronic fuel pump ..... An do you have a wireless fitted??

Re: negative earth conversion
I've just fitted a modern CD radio which of course meant swapping to neg earth. I suppose that with it being a modern radio that's why I'm not getting any interference. Haven't updated any of the plug leads with suppressing ones or fitted any suppressers anywhere. The only other wires that we had to change were the electric washer ones as it was sucking instead of blowing!
