Rear wing reflectors

Post by peteatreat »

Hi.
Following my long search for a lowlight, I am delighted to say that I am the proud owner of a 1950 maroon model which, for those of you in the club, is the one that is featured in the latest club magazine.

The car was restored over 10 years ago and has retained many of its original features. It seems from one of the photos of the restoration that a reflector was fitted above the rear light ( see picture below ) which wasn't replaced and the small holes are evident albeit hardly visible.

I would like to find a period pair of reflectors and would appreciate some advice as to the correct type that would have been fitted.

Thank you

Pairs of reflectors were not originally fitted, the small reflector on the boot badge was sufficient. When required some reflectors were mounted in a rubber plinth above the tail light, others were in a holder which was secured by the top screw on the tail light chrome rim. Whatever method of mounting you choose the reflectors should be vertical not pointed skywards

Thanks Mike.
Do you know of or have any photos you could post so I can get an idea of what they look like. Also, if you may know if either are reproduced or any old stock around?
Cheers

Original Morris Minor P.19 & 23 shows a Series MM with rubber mounted reflectors
I have used small Traveller reflectors screwed to the bottom corners of the boot lid.
Alternatively you could mount them on brackets under the rear bumper

I didn't fit reflectors - just relied on the central one. I think it looks a lot better this way.
You can buy reflectors if you have to - try ebay.

Thank you all for your comments.

I will have a look at the options suggested and take it from there.
