rear damper drop link arms

Post by greg78 »

Right, been through the suspension front and back on my recently acquired 1957 4 door - everything looks great apart from both rear damper drop link arms. The rubber bushes on each end have perished and there is a considerable amount of 'slop' in the joints. Can you get a rubber bush kit for these or do I have to replace the complete arms? Where's the best place to buy suspension parts?

You do have to get new drop links - and poly bushes are best for the connection at the 'chassis; rail (although MOSS don't seem to have any in stock) . While in that area - take the dampers off - drain out the thin/filthy/smelly old oil - and refill with SAE 40 oil. The improvement is dramatic. Nd make sure the bump stops are present and correct - or get new ones... Do the same with the front dampers - but no need to remove them to do the job. MOSS is one place - and they have a few Depots - maybe one near you to save on carriage costs? They are sometimes not the cheapest - but I think they have an Easter Sale on right now...... http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewP ... exID=17092
