MMOC "valuer"

Post by MyLulu »

Is there an MMOC valuer? (or similar?). I would be interested in their opinion. Obviously there is an insurance value, and rough estimates, but I'd like to know from someone who as the old phase goes "knows their onions". Gloucester.

Contact your local branch or the club office for details of your nearest valuer.

Failing that, if you're not in a rush, then come to the National Rally where there will be valuers available.

Any 'value' given is just a personal opinion at the end of the day. And of course 'buying' and 'selling' are very
different values! If you look on ebay for similar cars to yours - you will get a very good idea of the genuine 'free market' value of the car. Don't get starry eyed looking at Dealer's websites ! These are often grossly inflated prices set to catch the unwary!

insurance valuaton does not reflect market value
you need an adequate valuation to cover in the event of a serious crash

Insurance Value = cost of replacement (higher)
Market Value = price to buy/sell (private)
Dealer Value = trade book price (plus mark up)

As Roy says, bodywork/structure is all important - 4 new wings,
a bucket of filler, black underseal, new carpets and a respray is
NOT a restoration!

A current MoT is NOT a guarantee of good condition either.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

No - but it does give you a year of motoring to find the flaws before the next MOT is due!
