Morris Mis-Firing

Morris Mis-Firing

I set off for Chichester today in the Morris 1000 Convertible (Iris) when just west of Arundel the car began to mis-fire and then conked out. The vehicle would not start again. I thought that maybe in the traffic we had overheated.

The AA came to help me out, and the car did actually start once they had arrived. They looked at the fuel-mix on the carburetor; checked the distributor cap and points; cleaned the spark plugs; and checked the engine temperature. All seemed fine.

This only seems to happen when the car gets hot and up to working temperature. Could this be the electrical coil playing up when the car gets hot?

Thanks in advance,

Kind regards

Hahahaha - regulars on here know it's NEVER the coil! Condenser is top suspect.....or fuel pump points needing cleaned - or a vacuum forming in the fuel tank if the breather is blocked......
