Check the body number again - one digit makes all the difference.

Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

(ahem)....you know what; ie 6 letter word, 3rd letter "N"!

Hi just had a look the i/d on the plate is FCE11/342507 and another tag on the bulkhead is BM 138402.THANKS MICK

Was it sold to you as a "genuine" convertable?
Have you looked for the stamped chassis number - either high 2xxxxx
or low 3xxxxx - as suggested by Mike?
What's the engine number?

The chassis and body numbers on my May 1955 saloon are both a few hundred higher than these numbers.

Yes, body number is that of a 4/55 2dr.
