About to fit Electronic Ignition adapter

Post by gtt1951 »

Hello Folks,
I've got a +ve Earth electronic ignition adapter for my 918 Side-valve engine (dizzy is the version with high-lift cam).
Before I start I need to ask a question (I've already done this on my Traveller's 25D dizzy).
After fitting conversion, you have to adjust the dizzy to advance by about 8 deg on a 25D one. I'll most likely have to do the same on my DKY one, but the dizzy body mark seems to be on the other side to the A-R scale[frame]Image[/frame]
Above is the "scratch" mark on the scale side, below is a more positive mark 180 deg opposed[frame]Image[/frame]
The question is - has my dizzy case been fitted incorrectly?
The old manual does have a sketch/picture of a dizzy with the rectangular face towards the A-R scale.
Regards, George.

If you want the dizzy in a different position swap the plug leads around and rotate the dizzy until you have the required position. Alternatively remove the base plate, unhook the cam rotate it 180deg and hook it up again, then rotate the dizzy 180deg.
The range of timing marks is 50deg of dizzy rotation and each graduation is 5deg
