Cylinder head info

Post by dalgrae »

Apolagies if this posts twice as I had a senior moment with the first attempt

I am looking to buy a spare cylinder head for my 948 cc car and have found one local to me in Bristol but need advice on it please ,it is shown as 2A269 which according to what I can find out is 948/998 , but the info I have also shows it as having a small inlet valve is this correct and if so would it be suitable for me

2A269 is the correct head for a 948 engine. The valve sizes are the smallest used in the A Series engine, and were shared with the 803 Series II Minor and also the 850 Mini engine.

And the early 998 Mini engine... Don't pay a lot for that head ! It's not exactly rare or desirable.... The CAM 4810 head has same size valves - and is supposedly 'unleaded' and also often more or less given away for little cost... Or of course - upgrade to a 12G202 head with larger inlet and better porting - although it would need a 60 thou skim for use on a 948.

Well - the price is right at the moment! But it is going to need a skim before you can use it....and no saying if the valves are rusted in to the guides........ I wouldn't be paying any more than the current price....... This is a bargain - in Crewe which must be near Bristol - well - it is in England.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Metro-A- ... 19ea6f6368

Thanks for the most valuable advice yet again Roy, I have a half term break coming up of a couple of weeks which should just about be enough to get to Crewe and back with my lack of navigation skills according to my wife
