Re: sealed beam headlights
Yes, I know, but they do give a very good light! They are well adjusted and have never had any problem with the MOT beam test.

If using big bulbs like that - you MUST beef up the wiring to the lights, including the (black) earth return. And to relieve the load on the headlight switch and dip switch - a pair of relays would be wise.......

Re: update sealed beam headlights
Hi Folks,
Thanks for the help with the halogen headlights.
Thought I would let you know I got a pair of Wipac units from Bullmotif, Birmingham, for about a tenner each, they were an easy fit , job done. Postage was quick to Cornwall, only a couple of days.
On to the next job!
Cheers

The Wipacs seem to get a good reputation - and that price sounds like a bargain! You'll be singing "I can see clearly now" !

Re: sealed beam headlights
Hi,
I have just fitted a pair of Halogen headlights, replacing the rotted out bowls with plastic ones. One side had a sealed beam unit so was a direct swap but the other had a bulb and needed the short adapter loom from ESM. The halogens seemed much better but when I looked up the H4 bulbs that came with the 'Kit' I found that 'Classic' bulbs scored one star and were slated in a comparison test:

As Philips came out well in the test I bought a pair of "Phillips Premium Car Van Headlight Lamp H4 (30% Brighter) Performance Bulb" on EBay delivered next day for £5.99 incl. p+p and replaced the Classics. WHAT a difference, far brighter and better beam shape, thoroughly recommended!
