Please help suggest which paint colour I need

Post by picky »

Hello,

Long time since I posted here! I am helping someone touch up small nicks in the paintwork of a 1963 2 door saloon. We initially thought it was clipper blue, but it looks like it has been resprayed a slightly lighter blue at some point, as the clipper blue touch up looks too dark. The floors are a darker blue, and the touch up looks like it matches that.

From the photos can anyone suggest what paint colour we might have?

It certainly looks like Clipper would be the nearest colour. If it was resprayed was it sprayed in cellulose? They may have used the nearest 2Pk colour.

I had not considered that, is there anyway to determine what chemistry of paint it is? I have spoken with the owner and they had a scratch repaired before at a garage, it is very well done and completely invisible so we are going to contact them and see how they chose the paint colour.

That's probably the best idea. My convertible is Clipper Blue (cellulose) but I've met up with other Clipper Blues and none seem to be the same. If you take a glove box lid to a local paint supplier they should be able to match it using the latest computer wizardry. :D
