brakes binding

please help, as my front brakes keep binding and getting rather hot on short journeys ,I have replaced all the front cylinders, and hoses and adjusted the shoes but this keeps happening also the brake switch connecter has been replaced . may be a new brake master cylinder would solve this problem .is there any body in the[ Bedfordshire] area who is willing to have a look at my morris 1000 4 door saloon year of manufacture 1962 and if possible may be fit this for me at the going rate of course....many thanks.....

Is there some free play at the pedal?
And do the wheel turn OK by hand before you start the journey?

before starting there is some free play

the wheel does turn ok before starting the journey .but starts binding after a few miles

Another thought, is the breather hole in the master cylinder open and is the fluid level well below the threads?
Is there a servo fitted?

no servo and yes the breather hole is open,as well as the fluid level well below the threads.many thanks for getting back to me. whats your thoughts on a new master cylinder..

Don't rush in to a new master - it will be a very simple problem. By any chance -are the clutch and brake pedals 'stiff' to move -and when you move one - does the other tend to move with it?

Also check the return springs for the brake shoes are mounted correctly and in the right holes, and that none of them are stretched.

no ,both brake /clutch pedals are ok ....thanks for your reply

hi, no not all ,only the front two wheels ,mainly the drivers side.....

Sounds like sticking wheel cylinders then..or perhaps the springs as suggested above. Have you checked if all the cylinders are freely moving?

yes all wheel cylinders been replaced as well as brake hoses....... I will try the master cylinder vent hole again ,and as mentioned b4 to see if this has blocked again ,with a small pin and press the brake pedal with the cap off to check to fluid measurement......thanks again

Move the springs into 'further out' holes in the shoes so they pull the shoes back more effectively.
