Hello
I've changed the shoes on the back brakes of my '64 traveller but can't get the drum re-fitted over the shoes on the nearside rear. The other side went back on without too much of a problem.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Re: Brake Drum Problem
Is there slack in the hand brake cable?
When you do get it fitted you adjust the brake shoes first, then the hand brake cables.

This seems to occur over and over again - it needs a 'sticky' ! As above - you MUST slacken the cables off first - on both sides, but the most likely problem here is that the cylinder has seized in an extended position. Check to see if it is fully retracted - and free to move when you pull the handbrake cable - and when someone gently applies the footbrake.

Thanks for that.
The handbrake cables have been removed as they are being replaced. Will investigate the cylinder.

Re: Brake Drum Problem
I had this when I replaced my rear cylinders about 3 years back.
I'm sure I had to grind a slight corner off the cylinder as it was fouling on the shoe.
Can't remember what the make of cylinder was, don't think it was a pattern but a genuine part.
