Jason's 1968 Traveller Restoration

Post by jbrush »

Hi all. I'm undertaking a restoration in California. Here's my story in brief:

In 2012, my wife and I bought a '68 Traveller on Ebay, sight unseen, and went to Scotland for our 10-year wedding anniversary. We had a great time over the next week, driving a 500-mile loop around the highlands, from Aberdeen to Ben Lomond to Ullapool (extra time here due to breakdown and no parts) to Inverness.

We put "Bonny" on a boat back in Aberdeen, and a month later, she's an expat, living in San Francisco.

I started with the brakes. Wanted to convert to discs and expected a $600-$800 job. Not even close... My guy did outstanding work, but a lot of work it was. So much was rusted solid...

With wallet considerably lighter, there was a lull in activity over the 2012 holidays.

Next episode... "exploratory surgery..."

Dream come true for a Moggie to retire in California! Do you have rust there?

Indeed. She'll be well cared for in the "convalescent home." A dry garage and a tidy undercoating...and a low sodium diet. :D
