Starter motor query
Now that I have obtained a spare starter motor for my car from a club member and having stripped it apart my question is please is it possible to recut the axial brush location segments on the rotor ,I know it is possible to do this on a radial type brush rotor as on a dynamo so I assume there is an allowance on the axial type rotor to do the same as where the brushes rub against is slightly dished.
Re: Starter motor query
I would simply clean them up - no 'recutting' - and make sure the brushes can move freely. I much prefer the radial brush type of starter.... Does it have the correct number of teeth on the Bendix?

Re: Starter motor query
Thanks for the info how many teeth should it have,
