Take the light green off the flasher unit P terminal. I assume the stalk light goes out. If not, it is getting power from somewhere else.
Then connect a test lamp to that P contact on the flasher unit. Does the test lamp stay on? If so the flasher unit is faulty. If not the fault points to the indicator stalk.
