Need photos of a trav bootwell repair

Post by jbrush »

Hi all -

I'm undertaking a restoration of a '68 Traveller in California. I'm looking for some reference photos to give to my body shop specific to the rear bootwell area (ideally, with the wood off so they can see how the inner wings and such all match up.

I've searched around the resto threads without much luck, so thought I'd toss out the request in case some have more pictures they didn't post.

Many thanks in advance - Jason

Hi, not sure these will cover what you require, they are views of my 66 Traveller boot area

Last two are looking from inside of the car and are the area under the rear seat

Hope these help.

Hi! Thanks and very sorry for the long delay in reply. Your car looks very tidy! :)

What my shop is trying to figure out is the corners of the bootwell floor. I think we've got it lined up based on the wood kit dry fitting. Having trouble posting photos but I'll keep trying.

Hi

In my last photo you can see the box section the rear seat fits too is about 4"/100mm back from the back of the wood that fits to the door frame (B post?). In you pictures it looks like its level with the wood. Have your doors been fitted with the B post etc If that is the case and your wood is against the B post your rear floor could be 100mm too far forward and this could be why you have too much gap at the back.

I am no expert and assume my view of your photos is correct. Others may have more information on actual measurements for the floor.

Thanks - I see what you mean, but I think it's just a bad photo angle/perspective, as that wasn't the spot of concern I was trying to illustrate with the photos. The inner rails (with front seatbelt anchorage points) dictate the dimension I believe you're referring to, and those panels are new and fitted.

The "problem" area is the C post footings (very rear of the car corners), because the bootwell floor and inner wheel arches are completely cut away so there's no reference points except the rear edge of the fuel tank aperture.

The wood kit was fitted loosely (but snug to the B/door posts) subsequent to my original post, and I hope that is sufficient to give them the reference points they need.

Cheers for your help!

Also, prior to any panel work, the cross bracing you see in the photos was welded into place to maintain dimensions. No part of the floors aft of the vertical bit under the back seat has been cut out.

I was not sure if it was the photos. The back of my traveller is now fully fitted with the wood floor etc so cannot get in to take any additional photos of the rear floor to the external wood.

There is a bumper iron that bolts to the part of the floor you have installed. (one of my pictures shows the left one) and these go through the wood, this may give an you a indication of the length.

Hope you find what you need to complete your car

Circling back, a few more photos. Went by the body shop today. The first photo shows the area forward of the box referred to above. The second is the area I was trying to sort with the original post. Maybe it can help someone else to see how the parts match up in the corners of the bootwell floor without the wood. [frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
