Wiper motor gears

Lately the wiper motor on my '61 saloon has been playing up by stopping randomly and restarting after some time.
I've narrowed it down to the motor as the feed stays constant and the cable was taken out and regreased with the restoration. Anyway, is it possible to swap the gear (100) for a later motor (150) and use that as I have stacks of those. In practice I believe it should work?
It has a later loom fitted so no problems with the connections.

The Minor wiper circuit switches to 'earth', so when the motor stops make sure that the switch is working and providing a good earth. If you have, then it sounds like the brushes are worn/sticking? I don't think that changing the gear will stop the intermittent running.

I would think that the 150° gear will give too much sweep, and the blades will go past the edge of the screen by a long way! The maximum is around 120° on a Minor.

I don't think I've made myself clear, the motor is definitely faulty as I've tested all connections (including earth) and the fault persists. I'm going to attempt swapping the motor but, as you say, the sweep angle will be too far. I have several later motors but no early screw in ones, so my plan was to use the 100 degree wheel from the early broken motor in a later (150 degree by default) motor so as to have a working motor that won't cost anything, I just wondered if (before I take it all apart) anyone had done it and it can be done!

I'm pretty sure it can be done, I seem to recall having to do it to convert from an ordinary to clap hands wiper motor.

Turns out you can't (at least now without some thorough modification).
Rebuild time then.

The 'gear' mounts centrally, and can't reach the motor worm gear.
Next test - swapping a later motor into an early motor case!
