too much shouting, false deadlines and drama and not enough about the [subject]
I find this is the theme of so many "lifestyle" programs now.
Once upon a time a cookery program was about how to cook something - nowadays some are about doing a 3 course dinner for 150 people whilst cooking on a twin camping stove in a tent on a beach whilst the menu is whatever you can load in to the back of a pickup truck in 90 minutes...

Even the master-chef programs are falling into the "false drama" pothole.

Gas Monkey is one I quite like.

I used to enjoy watching west coast customs guys but every single episode now involves doing a 90 day custom-shop job in 10 days or less. That gives 10 times more coverage to the "drama" about who's going to work through the night / when a door alignment didn't work first time and "who's fault is it" / whether a fully rebuilt custom transmission turns up painted & delivered with magic no-work-needed fitting kit in under 24hrs... and 10 times less coverage of any skilled work or the finished car.

Personally if a job's worth doing it should be a pleasure not a rush - and this false drama format is spoiling things (for me at least, although many others are not yet quite so tired of it!).
Why anyone would decide they need a custom car started, finished and delivered in time for a car show at only 2 weeks notice..

I think Time Team was one of the original culprits.
Archology made exciting, a real breakthrough in television! :(
To be fair they didn't bring in shouting and arguing which is to their credit.

They did argue in one episode - but then looked really sheepish afterwards and producer didn't dwell on it!
(and didn't play-up the argument in the trailers, then as a prequel to the episode and a pre-empt to every advert break before the resulting anticlimax later in the show)

Watch out for Counting Cars..based in Las Vegas. It gives an insight into the quality work they carry out but it is more about the people who are into our hobby.
They cover cars and motorcycles without the drama.
Some really alternative types of people have their vehicles restored....not your typical suited and flutted investment car collectors.

Watch out also for the new Fast and Loud...on tonight at 9.00pm.

Our programmes in the UK lack humour and any real feeling, at least the USA programmes show people showing their emotions either selling, buying or receiving their car after a restoration.

If we make a programme over here in the UK we need some interesting characters. to front them...a bit like Fred Dibnah who made knocking down chimney`s,restoring vintage equipment, visiting industrial heritage sights and period properties interesting enough for both me and my wife to love his programmes and making him into an iconic figure.

While counting cars passes a bit of time theres hardly any car restoration in it(well there is but you never see any).An idea of the budgets their customers have and the actual amount of time they spent doing the work would be an advantage too.Far too vague.
