Body number should be on a small oblong plate at top right hand side of bulkhead as you are looking to rear of car. it's held on with 2 small screws.

2 holes = just the Cowley plate - so DEF built at Cowley!

No idea when they began mixing Cowley with CKD and prog numbers.

Well, prior to 2/51, that I DO know.

The missing plate is the NMP plate, so would suggest "mixing" was done during '49.

If I had more body numbers I'd be able to help!

MM NMP plates usually to the right of the stamped chassis number, directly underneath soleid on later cars.

I think?

the plate cam in a folder, the engine bay is mostly striped of paint as it's an abandoned resto project, so no primer is left but when I looked where the plate should go, where later cars take the body no plate there are 2 holes which fit the bmf plate I was given and the body number plate has no obvious place it was fitted to, so maybe I was given this plate by mistake, there seem to be missing a plate on the bulkhead crossmember tho behined the engine,

do you know anything about BMF plates?

Thanks for all your help
Frank
