Is that a MUTT to the right? How did you get hold of that in one piece? :)

Looks like a challenging project, those are very strange areas for to have rotted so badly. The benefit thought with the older cars is that the steel is a heavier gauge and good to weld to.

Good luck with the project, plenty of pics of your progress please 8)

I rather like the two tone paint job; hadn't seen it on many pictures before.

Chassis number is a 1951. It is not listed on the MM register, but a couple of close survivors are.
Check out the register in this group.
Go to 'Series MM Register Web Site' (top of MMfirst page), then click on link http://seriesmm.mmoc.org.uk
Register listing is then top right.

Ooops...

Something wrong somewhere, body number id from a 11/55 4dr!!

Chassis = FA?/?? 38????

What you SHOULD have is Z12102-3 - Followed by the prog. nos. & Cowley plate.

Odd!

Well those are the plates i have :( car could be ringed then!? What strange is usually when they ring a car they change VIn plate not body no. The chassis no on the vin plate says SMM 100275

I'd have thought an MM series without the moulding under the rear window would be at the latest the latter half of 1950. I've seen late 1950 models with the moulding. Mine is July 1950 and without.
I wouldn't worry too much about it though, so long as you get a V5C.

I do have a V5 and the car has been off the road since 1988!! So if it was ringed it was before then!

Have you looked for the chassis number stamped into the b/head?

Think it's next to the o/s/f shock absorber on MMs(?).

Done a bit of digging, apparently last "Lowlight" was 83389, so it
points to the chassis plate being wrong. We know the body nos
is from a different vehicle, so chances are the chassis plate is too!

I know next to nothing about this model, but you could look for
an NMP plate - n/s/f of engine bay floor under the bumper iron(?).

So, mid 1949?

As I said, know very little about these - but 26000 does sound better
than that quoted on the chassis plate!

So, too early for prog body nos, you'd probably just have a Cowley
plate - may be worth taking the silly 4dr body nos id plates off to
see what primer is visible underneath(?).

Chris,

the plate cam in a folder, the engine bay is mostly striped of paint as it's an abandoned resto project, so no primer is left but when I looked where the plate should go, where later cars take the body no plate there are 2 holes which fit the bmf plate I was given and the body number plate has no obvious place it was fitted to, so maybe I was given this plate by mistake, there seem to be missing a plate on the bulkhead crossmember tho behined the engine,

do you know anything about BMF plates?

Thanks for all your help
