Marmaduke and daughter No. 2 (Eloise) went ice-skating this morning, no injuries - but you can see how trecherous black ice can be. A few hundred yards down the road lay the remains of 3 modern cars also 'off roading'!
Marmaduke's getting used to these impromtu Forest detours - Hetty (daughter No. 1) did the same thing last year!
Big thank you to Forest Rescue for the winch out and for Footman James for organising that.
That's strange R2, the damage doesn't look so bad from here!

I'm glad your daughter ( No 2 ) is safe and unharmed. It always helps to keep a sense of perspective in these situations.
Damaged /bends car can be put right or replaced ... family safety is always top of my list.
Never the less...I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune.Hope the rest of the New Year is kinder to your family.
Bob
As said already Im glad your daughters safe and at least no other vehicles were involved.
I had a spin in black ice once in my blue minor, in a street with lots of parked cars and I really dont know how I didnt hit any of them as obviously you have no control of the steering. A few years later when I did emergency driver training we went to skid pans that had a modified sierra with a frame that could lift any of the wheels up at any time, one wheel two wheels or all of them! Now that was good fun in a big old airfield with piles of tyres for safety, a whole different thing when its a country road on a frosty morning
Glad your daughter is all ok, can imagine will have been a big shock for her..... Looks like there may not be to much damage hopefully.... At least there wasn't a wall or fence or railings etc....
Thanks all for your good wishes. Daughter is fine, bit shaken and came home early from college as she couldn't concentrate - but within a short time had tacked up her forest pony and was out jumping gorse bushes - as you do. Strong stuff these gals!
What Eloise was most upset about was the fact that as she entered the unrecoverable slide, she crossed into the path of an oncoming vehicle narrowly missing it as she sailed accross a ditch to an abrupt stop. And guess what the other (4x4) driver did?????????? HE JUST DROVE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
