I don't recall seeing anyone do it on this site.
The closest I got was a maxi conversion at the scrappy.
Do you have any particular questions? I have minors and minis in bits

There was an automatic Trav for sale recently - that had a Mini front subby fitted to give it front wheel drive. The price was ludicrous - I don't know if it sold in the end. But looking under the bonnet of a Mini - the family resemblance to a Minor is obvious!

I have been offered a 4 door with a 1300 metro sport engine and auto box .I had a test drive and it goes well and has disc front end retained off the metro seems a bargain at £1650

Re: Has anyone done a fwd mini conversion on here ???
Interesting....let's see some pictures!! Shame it's an auto............

Re: Has anyone done a fwd mini conversion on here ???
Whats to be gained by it
other than front wheel drive which is a debatable improvement, looks like a lot of work for not much gain to me,but everyone to their own as they say.

I like auto
Kennat who mentioned gain
if front wheel drive doesn't work they would not of made the Mini and the A plus engine is a well designed engine and the disc front end is a bonus for the speeds attained
.Alec Issigonis designed the Mini in 55 coming out in 59 and never stopped uprating it till the end .At the end of the day it still has an A series engine and I like standard cars also but this Minor is a novelty and very Quick

As loads of more modern cars have FWD engines on subframes why restrict yourself to something so similar to what comes out?

what have they done to the rear, just took prop and gearbox out and left old axle hanging there,or is the rear also converted to just a beam, would just leaving the axle in cause handling problems I wonder

The rear is beam axle and has been done by an engineer and is a neat job .I bought it like this Marky and the guy who built it wanted to keep it A series but uprated

Any photos irmscher . Has the front end been strengthened, how is the engine/box/sub-frame mounted. Was thinking along same lines different engine/box though, original thoughts were sub-frame mounting up front and rear axle/sub-frame at back, then changed to floor-pan swap as Morris floor-pan very corroded and needs replacing anyway .

I thought nowadays the reason why most things are fwd is because it's cheaper for the manufacturer not necessarily because it's better?

I agree, mind you someone was asking if RWD is safe recently.

Really? I know fwd is better in ice but other then that I couldn't think of pros. Though I suppose you are sitting on a spinning piece of metal?

Suzukimorris have you read the book issigonis its a good read and he wanted to put a fwd into production with an auto box
and Enzo Ferrari wanted to buy the rights to the Auto box design
