Propshaft
Hello again another bit of help please removed engine and gearbox how do I keep propshaft still while I undo nuts thanks

Re: Propshaft
Put the handbrake on......... But actually - it's nuts and bolts - so a (1/4 Whit) spanner on each hex should hold it while you slacken the nut!

Re: Propshaft
Handbrake is good unless you have a broken halfshaft, in which case the spanners or putting it in gear will do the job.
Re: Propshaft
matters not what you do because you still need two spanners to take the nut/bolt off,it will be tight most of the way off.

Re: Propshaft
Thanks no hand brake either lads

Re: Propshaft
As we have pointed out - it's a two spanner job anyway - so no need to hold the prop....

Re: Propshaft
As BMC says, take 2 spanners on either side of the bolt/nut, then angle them so you can squeeze them both simultaneously with one hand. You will be surprised how much pressure you can exert this way, and in a confined space.
This way there there is no need to secure the prop shaft.

That
Re: Propshaft
We're always happy to reply to queries. Just be sure to use 1/4 whit spanners - the heads are thin - and will be easily damaged if you use loose fitting/wrong size spanners - which will make the job X100 more difficult.....
