Electronic Ignition

I have been reading posts regarding Electronic Ignition as I am thinking about fitting it but I have a question, has anyone who has it fitted suffered with high voltage tracking through the rotor arm?
After weighing up the pro's and cons and having suffered with poor quality rotor arms before this is one question I have not been able to find an answer too.

Thoughts anyone?

if you buy the compleate system ie the whole dizzy it comes with a red rotorarm ,i have had electronic ignition for 8 years no prpblems .i have got accuspark system very happy with it .

The voltage is not any higher (a common misconception) with these 'electronic' ignition systems - they simply replace the points..... So any high voltage tracking would have happened anyway..with good old points. Many report great success with both simonbbc and accuspark dizzies...and very few complaints - and those few are generally down to incorrect installation.

Depending which type you decide to go for, check the spark plug gap that they suggest. If it says open the gap to say 40thou then this is due to more instantaneous energy coming from the spark due to the switching electronics used, which will, over time deteriorate the distributor cap etc. Don't let this put you off though, I've been running an old Sparkrite system on my car for 10 years with the same cap! Lumenition also recommend opening the plug gap.

The likes of Accuspark replace the mechanical points with a more reliable 'maintenance free' setup and may improve ignition timing slightly but has the same spark energy as standard.

It all depends on your reasons for fitting electronic ignition really
