Vacuum Pipe

Post by howard jones »

Hi chaps.
Have a new vac. pipe to fit to my 1098. The type that runs straight from the dizzy' to the carb. and does away with the older type all metal piping. Just a query - the original vac. piping ( as per every other one iv'e seen ) runs through that bell shaped housing usually attached to a bracket off the thermostat housing. Is it safe to do away with this fitting, and cut the pipe at the dizzy' end to accept the new rubber connection ?
* I don't think the adv. / retard is working fully - hence the reason for replacement.

It was supposedly a 'fuel vapour trap' - just throw it away.....

Many thanks for that - din't want to regret doing something I would regret, but couldn't find much relating to it in Haynes's book.
