Hello
Putting the door windows back into the Traveller. The spring, on both door winder mechanisms has broken. They seem to work fine, but I have no idea why the spring is there. Could anyone shed any light on why it’s there and if it’s essential? If it is required, does anyone know where a replacement can be found (of the spring, not the whole mechanism).
Many thanks
Russ

Re: Window winder springs
The spring will assist you when you turn the handle to raise the glass , i am not sure if it stops the window from falling down as well , probably can only buy secondhand window lifters ,you may be able to find a spring off a modern car but will probably be the same price as a secondhand morris one as you will have to buy the whole modern lifter and then dismantle it.

Cheers Ian
Would rather repair than replace if at all possible.
Hadn’t thought of a modern alternative spring though - nice idea.
