1968 saloon Original rear seatbelts.

Post by bluegrass »

I have a 1968 saloon and have an 'extras' brochure that came with the car. It mentions among other 'extras' some rear seatbelts.

BMC REAR SEAT BELTS: ADA 4144

Does anyone have any genuine rear belts fitted to their late saloon, and if so, could i get a description of where they mount and what they look like.

Thanks for any help.

I was not aware that rear seat belts had been thought of in 1968

I agree, I was surprised myself about that. Here is a picture taken from a page of a BMC Approved Accessories brochure that came along with my car. I am fairly certain it was supplied when my car was originally purchased in 1968. It shows the rear seat belt option.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Bluegrass, where did you get to on this subject? I have a '68 saloon and would like to fit rear belts, but concerned about how to fit mountings that would comply with the law, MOT etc.

Cheers,

Roger.

The brochure only shows front belts. If you are fitting new belts then fit inertia belts

Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
