Re: Whats members cheapest insurance quote and what company???
Hi
I have recently taken out a multi insurance for my three Minor 'classics' with Equity Red Star through RH Specialist Insurance, contact number 01277 206911.
Quote was for all three Minors with an individual value of under £4000 each, one driver, fully comprehensive, unlimited mileage, including legal cover, roadside breakdown and recovery, and no admin charge for minor detail changes during the policy period.
Total price £214 including taxes, average per vehicle £71.33
Only stipulations were excess payments for a windscreen replacement/repair, and that there is some kind of security feature on the car. Even aftermarket types like Krooklock being acceptable to meet this requirement.
Another bonus with this policy, that I hope I will never need, is that if a car on the policy is written off in an accident, etc. the car salvage is returned to the owner, and becomes their property!

Yes - RH are very obliging, and allow me to 'add on' my TR7 for the summer months for £10 per month. Long may they continue ! Never had to claim (thank goodness) but they do include Roadside and Recovery as part of the standard cover.

Re: Whats members cheapest insurance quote and what company???
Thanks for that Busguy I have used RH before and found them brilliant but I have a couple of heavily modded cars at the moment. I might try for a block insurance and as Roy says try them for off road insurance seems a good idea
Re: Whats members cheapest insurance quote and what company???
The months my TR7 is not insured - it is safely tucked away in the garage on SORN. I'm too poor to insure it all year round when there is no prospect of it going on the road.

I found Lancaster cheaper than Footman James and gave guaranteed value without too much hassle.

Hi,
I do like those Rostyles on her and have to say, from a personal viewpoint, that this is the first time I've seen them on a Minor and I like them better than the Minilites that many go for these days. Very nice.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Re: Whats members cheapest insurance quote and what company???
I used to be with RH for 14 years when I had an A35 van which I used a couple of times a week to go to work, then I got my Morris van and would not insure it as they said a Morris 1000 van did not excist.Footman James is the only ones that would insure it but at about 4 times more than I was paying for the A35 van insurance

Re: Whats members cheapest insurance quote and what company???
Is it not a Morris Minor van - perhaps the 1000 was causing the problem. There must be folks on here insuring Minor vans through RH - surely?

Re: Whats members cheapest insurance quote and what company???
RH said they had heard of a Morris Minor car but said they did not make a van.

Re: Whats members cheapest insurance quote and what company???
Further to my last submission.
On talking to RH today about a quote for a non classic vehicle, in the conversation it was pointed out to me that if a 'classic' Minor is the only daily workhorse vehicle of the person looking for a quote, it isn't then necessarily treated as a 'classic' in the price quoted. This insurer concentrates business on classics, not your full time mainstream working vehicle.
The answer appears to be, to have more than one Minor insured, so none of them would be the main vehicle. That's why my quote was very competitive.

My van is with RH, £89 A year with high valuation. Don't understand why you having issues........ as they insure Minor vans no issues..
