Trafficators and Heat...

Post by GatorZilla »

Hey Y'all!

It has been a while since I was on here... Time has slipped away from me... I still drive my "Precious" all over the place and am continuing to do small bits of restoration at a time.. as I have the money.

I have a couple of questions for y'all and would so much appreciate it if y'all veteran owners could take a few minutes to help me.

First...does the heater ever actually get warm in a MM? I hate to be a whiner, but my little piggies get cold in my Precious!

Secondly, I was wondering about the trafficators. I am about to send off for new ones, but I don't know anything about how they actually work...

Are they supposed to light up?

How hard are they to install?

HOW do you install them?

Do they come out automatically when you turn on your turn signal?

Thank y'all in advance for your help! It is greatly appreciated!

Heater should be pretty warm. Either the thermostat in the cylinder head is stuck, or the heater needs flushing through with the hosepipe and reverse-flushing until clear water comes out. This has never failed to work for me.

But first of all, check that the brass tap supplying the heater at the rear of the cylinder head is turned fully on. It may be seized up so some persuasion could be needed.

Traficarors do pop out automatically when you flick the switch sometimes they. Need a thump from inside . The worst thing.about them is most modern day driver's don't. See them even if you flick em on and off. Guarantied to put a smile on the faces of those who do

as they shunt into your rear :( ,modern drivers even find the low level indicators and brake lights difficult ,that's why many fit a higher third brake light.

I will remember that if I ever get cold again...

I DID get the little brass knob turned on

It is AMAZING what a difference a little bit of knowledge can make :D

I am SO excited! I can't wait to get them and start being able to use them...

The ones on my Precious right now have been crammed into the little slot so, sadly, they don't work at all

Anybody happen to know how to install them? I imagine THAT is going to be tricky...

I can go right on ahead and tell you that the first one who runs into my Precious may have to get some sort of psychiatric help to get over seeing the hissy fit I will pitch!

Just kidding...

Probably...

People need to take time to enjoy life rather than just speeding through it.

Thanks y'all!

So remove the back panel beside the back seat and you will see the back of the trafficator. The trafficators are held in by 2 screws that go through the bodywork from the outside, thats it as simple as that to remove! When you bring out the bracket the actual trafficator is held onto the bracket by a screw. The power wire is just a push in with a connector. The trafficator earths throught the body were it is screwed on so make sure that the inside of the body were it screws on has clean metal for the earth.

Your old ones may well work just be seized up if they havent been used for a while, put some penetrating on on the moving parts and try power to them.

Thank you so much! That sounds relatively simple!

Hopefully, I will be able to change them out without a problem...

I may take my old ones out and try the penetrating fluid before ordering new ones....

It's worth a try, anyway, right? Nothing ventured, nothing gained....

When they are out, do not try and pull the arms out as you may bend them, push down on the rod going through the electro-magnet and then you can pull the arm out .
