Re: Mini Engine swap

I have a very clever friend who did a 1340cc conversion for me in 1995 and it is still going strong today. It involved machining the Mini crank to a taper, a woodruff key and a thread and nut to hold on a boss/flange with the similar taper. The fly wheel sits 1/4" back from normal with a bit machined out of it and runs a 9 spring 6 1/4" clutch. A backing plate was made with a seal fitted to run on the boss. And a bit of fiddling with the oil pickup. It runs an early Datsun gearbox, we don't have your options down here. A better option is to use the Marina 1275 engine (or Sprite) with a backing plate to suit your gearbox - I have two of those fitted. Bruce - Australia.
