Number plates

Post by howard jones »

Hoping to replace the black and silver number plates I have on my traveller.
Can anyone recommend a company that makes the ''pressed steel'' type ?

I've used several places: Framptons based in Waterlooville were very good. Tippers Vintage plates in Cornwall and Charles Ware MM Centre in Bristol all do them as I expect ESM do. Just Google them.

I also think like everything, you get what you pay for, the cheaper ones soon deteriorate from my experience.

Do you mean pressed aluminium black/silver plates? If so I would recommend Jepsons.

Hi,
I like the way they are made, in that the black is paint sprayed on and baked.
I've had some on mine in the past and was put off by the way it 'peeled' away from around the numbers / letters over time, also it appeared to be a plastic type substance rather than paint, it separated completely from the aluminium leaving it 'clean'.
The Jepsons ones look far better.
Best wishes,
Mike.

1952 Morris Minor MM highlight with sidevalve engine still fitted, wants work, so joins the queue for now......
