How many gauges have you???

Post by Morrisminormo »

good evening fellow minor owners...
I was wondering how many aftermarket gauges you have fitted to your car?
I have vaccum, oil pressure and volt meter. I love my gauges and like to see them needles moving!!
I have a 52mm rev counter but not fitted it. But some times I do think it would look good

Has any he have a mechanical clock or outside ambient temperature gauge! I would snap anyone's hand off for a ambient temperature gauge

Either side of the standard speedo in a widened dash I have a ammeter and a dual oil pressure/water temp gauge, and then a larger tacho set in the driver glovebox panel. Can't find a pic at the mo so a shameless plug  for this pic Image which is the press photo the British Car Show near Geneva used to publicise their event this summer, from their FB page

Bruce? Yo, Bruce? Someone's posted a cue for you to come in and laugh at my exhaust :D :D .
Unfortunately that exhaust is no more minormo, following some .... ummmm .... 'incidents' on various Swiss Alps a couple of months ago. It was a home-brew affair but has just been replaced with a Maniflow system which I thoroughly recommend.

One tiny proviso though - we fitted the exact same system to Bruce's convertible some months back and it sounds lovely - perfect Minor farts. But the same exhaust on my Traveller is almost a stealth pipe, as while it works perfect its near silent, which is a bit of a shame as I'm a fan of the overrun burble :(

It really wouldn't be cricket to say anything about the FIRST replacement exhaust Mike got save to say it was 'interestingly' modified by the local exhaust shop!!! A fascinating and unique piece of craftsmanship the likes of which I have never seen in over 30 years of minoring :-)

As for the gauges, here's another photo of Mikes layout which I'm happy to post 'cos his photo's do tend to focus a bit on my car :-) - the steering wheel does hide the dual water temp/oil pressure gauge though - sorrry

In addition, here is another couple of examples of gauges added to the earlier flat dash. I think I have also seen one with four gauges - two on either side of the speedo one above the other but have not been able to trace any photos as yet.

Oil pressure and ammeter - both tucked away where only I can see them... I carry a 'clock' on my wrist if I need to know the time......

My permanent gauges are oil pressure, ammeter, water temp, oil temp and fuel pump pulse counter. Of these I'd say the ammeter and oil temp are the most useful (even if the oil pressure and water temp are the most important). Shortly, I'll be adding a water manometer to get the pressure drop down the intake to the air filter to measure the airflow. So with the fuel flow measured via the petrol pump pulse counter I'll have (with luck!) fuel/air ratios!
Wot fun! MikeN.

What's the fuel pump sensor like? Has it a sensor you put onto the pump itself? Like a knock sensor? Sounds interesting 8)
