I've just had the rocker cover off as it was weeping oil from the front and I thought I'd check the rubber gasket and I'd found some small 'rock salt' sized bits inside the engine filler cap and thought I'd have a look. I put everything back on and now it won't start.
I didnt have to disconnect any cables etc so I cant have forgotten anything. Never had a problem before and it's turning over so it's definitely something I've done. Immediately after I put the cover on it did fire but them instantly died. Now it's just turning over without firing.

Re: yaris won't start
How do you check a coil pack is working. Will they spark like a ht lead when you turn the key?

Tip some fuel down the inlet, and crank it - to see if it's a fuel supply problem. Any warning lights on? Do you have an OBD reader ??

Re: yaris won't start
I was convinced it was a fuel supply issue so I just connected the battery up to another car and cranked it until it fired. Now running smoothly. Still no idea why removing the rocker cover would cause a temporary fuel issue. Cheers bmceccose for the help.

With most modern cars you can disconnect the battery and it resets the brain ecu etc and most of the time its a fault with the code and goes to factory reset function and solves the problem

Make sure you have the code for the radio first!
"Once you break something you will see how it was put together"
Re: yaris won't start
Can't you just set the points gap, and turn it over on the handle? No? Oh well, never mind. Should be driving a Minor.
