Meet Ducky- my 1968 Morris Minor 4 door saloon!

Post by Lizziejane1997 »

Hello there! My name is Lizzie, and I am quite new to all this message board stuff, but I just wanted to let you all know about my new friend 'Ducky'.

Ducky is a 1968 duck egg blue Morris Minor 1000 4 door saloon which I saw parked at the end of a street close to where my dad lives. His friend works near where she was parked so dad went round to ask who's it was as he knew it's always been my dream from when I was tiny to own one! It turns out, that Dads friend owned it at the time as he took it in as part exchange for something. After looking at it so many times and hinting to dad,he agreed to let me buy it as we are quite tight for space at both his and my mums. However, a neighbour said can park her on his drive.. :) when I bought her, dad told me that she had never had a name before.. (How can a Morris not have a name? Puzzles me!) so I blurted out something about calling her Ducky due to to the paint colour ;)

I have always grown up around older vehicles, my mum has a Morris Minor 1000 called Murtle, which was her first car. I have the intention for Ducky to be my first car as I still have driving lessons and all that to come. Dad has agreed to drive her round 'to keep her running' but I think it's really just because he wants a Morris to drive round again! Ducky isn't that bad in terms of rust and interior.. She has a headlining which is so pristine I'm scared to touch it (silly really as she's mine..) and neat grey/blue colour seats which mum said is correct for her. The carpet however, I don't think is true to the car. At the moment she has a red carpet, like the one in Murtle. Murtle is black with the red interior.. So I think the carpets wrong? But a carpet is least of my worries for now.. In terms of rust, there's a small amount at the bottom of the door and on the bottom of one of the rear wings.. Other than that, she will do for a first car! All my friends at college are really jealous of her ;)[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

I identify my Motor's by their regn letters.

I'm sure it would drive itself off a cliff if I called one of mine "Ducky"!

Go for Heidi? HDY
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Lovely looking Moggy Lizzie. Different owners have their own little ideas on how to name their Moggy and yours is as good as anyone. Not many called Ducky I'm sure. Welcome to the club and let us know what carpet you go for.
