"Loose" Quarterlight Catches

Hi Membership.
Please can anyone advise a proven method for tightening (nipping up) the quarterlight catches which have become loose with age and usage. In my specific case we have already removed the quarterlight glass from the "U" frame for painting. This might make any procedure easier. Welcome your feedback on any proven solution.

You could check if the metal that the screws screw into has bent or distorted out of shape and if so, carefully hammer it flat.

I've got the same problem on my Minor. The triangle windows snap shut above about 55 mph, which is bothersome in summer. But I'm afraid I have yet to find a solution...tightening the retaining screws as tightly as they would go helped some, but didn't solve the problem.

The bottom pin fits into a shim which clamps around it when the clamp screw is tightened. Check that the shim is still there

I think that there are two different issues being discussed here. The original post referred to the catches, the thread has now drifted to the friction adjuster. The former hold the windows closed, the latter hold them open.

The chrome bit the catch swivels on is basically a big rivet. Put the flat circle of chrome on a vice and tap the back of the rivet carefully to tighten it up again

Find a suitably sized o-ring and slip it over the shaft. It worked on mine.
