engine splutters

Post by Case »

Hi, my traveller has been protesting a bit when I accelerate. she splutters and holds back a bit. Even though shes been serviced (not by a specialist) she still does it and it seams to be getting worse. My first thought was petrol filter but thats been replaced at the service, as has the distributer cap which had started to melt around the centre pin. Any ideas where I should be lokking for the problem. Thanks, being in Holland there aren't any specialists garages nearby.

Do you have some oil in the dash pot? It's under the threaded plastic cap on the carb.

The other thing to do is remove the air filter then lift up the piston you can then see with your finger.

It should rise easily and make an "audible clunk" when you let it drop.

been serviced (not by a specialist)
By your greengrocer?
Any garage should be capable of servicing a Minor, next call should be trading standards.
