Potential Scottish independance

Post by jfs52e »

Just been wondering. If Scotland decides to become independent next year, will we need to re register all our classic cars as they will effectively become foreign cars in Scotland. In that case would we retain free Tax, no requirement to MOT pre 1960 etc?
Come to think of it, would we need to re register our moderns too???? So much for everyone who has a cherished plate if we do.
Methinks some serious questions and answers are required.

MarkyB, If Alex Salmond knows it will be the first time he has known anything. Don't know why they are even bothering about thinking about it, too expensive, too many unknowns. (Still wonder about the reg thing though :-? )

I presume Scotland can make its own laws, so for the sake of those concerned, lets hope there is an active classic car body up there, in case of trouble. Wonder how many classics there are about.

will we need a passport?
I expect so, but the rest of Europe will probably be able to use an ID card or driving license (rather like when we travel to any other European country)

Yes - all car reg numbers will change - to start ECOSSE etc etc . Hillman Imp and Arrol-Johnstone cars will of course get special priority routes in town, and pay no tax on petrol. You will need a Passport and a Visa to visit us, but on the upside, petrol will be MUCH less expensive up here - because it's Scotland's Oil! Soapy Salmond and his terrified minions have it all under control - he's just running a 'bluff' that the campaign appears to be in utter chaos, to make the rest of us feel confident IT'S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN !

He probably registered his chariots in Rome. No difference through the centuries then, foreign drivers clogging up our roads
