Not sure if the club organise any trip`s down to this event.?
Historic motor racing around the streets of this lovely old town.
Many static club display`s over the weekend.
Old pre and post war vintage cars and owners drive down to this event as far away as Scotland, some of the drivers are in their eighties ,so no excuse for not making the effort to take your Moggie.
It is a very good time of the year to visit the South West of France, all the hoard`s of holiday makers are back at work, the campsites and hotels are less busy,it is not so hot (24-26 degrees) and the roads are empty.
As mentioned in another blog we are taking some Morris Minors down to the Dordogne region of France so that anyone visiting from the UK between April to Oct can drive around the region in a classic car.
There are events, shows and rallies throughout the summer months all over the South West of France and especially the Dordogne region.
The scenic roads are some of the best in France. Everything from valley roads, fast sweeping main roads to hairpin bending roads into the hills and mountain area.
We are members of a couple of local clubs in the region , and when down there go along with some of our French friends who have classic cars to their rallies or events.
The first Morris we are taking down is this 1961 Morris Minor Traveller, modified with all sorts of go faster and stop quicker items.
Last year I did not see any Morris`s at Angouleme in the club display`s. We will perhaps be the first to turn up in a Traveller.
The German`s are very enthusiastic about our British built Morris Minor`s especially the Traveller`s, the French are more patriotic about their own brands.
I have never seen a Morris Minor Traveller out on the road in the Dordogne region during the last 20 years, we will be the first to cruise around in ours.
When I showed some French people photo`s of our British built Traveller`s they thought it looked like something to take people to the cemetery in.!!!!!
Oh well.
