In case anyone has ever wondered what the difference between high compression and low compression pistons are, this engine, currently for sale on e-bay, shows the deep dished low compression pistons perfectly. Any minor engine number that reads 10V 123E/
L 456 as opposed to 10v 123E
H 456 is a low compression unit used originally in the LCV's and ran on good 'ol 2 star petrol

Where is the rest of the engine? It looks as though it has been used as an anchor.
Low compression engines were also used in military Travellers

Interesting crankcase breather canister set-up on it.

That was common to all late 1098 engines. My long lost Traveller FYY 809J had this arrangement and I think it was about the best engine I had in a Morris

It would be fine if you could get cheap crap but the minimum rating now is 95 RON Unleaded. The star rating hasn't been used for donkey's years.
I do wonder about that supermarket bilge-water though.
