It sputters...it dies
My 68 Moggy 1000 is having significant troubles. I start her up, and she sputters horribly. Changed the points and adjusted, but no luck.
I uploaded a video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWB0PG3y ... e=youtu.be
Any thoughts?

does sound like a restricted petrol problem, maybe a blocked pipe / filter - I see you have an extra filter so shouldn't be after this point?

First step - remove that fuel filter...... It's not needed and may be limiting fuel flow. The engine sounds VERY rattly - when did you last set the valve gaps?? Is there any oil getting up to the rockers.......?

Welcome to the forum. Was it worse after you changed the points? Have you perhaps put the ht leads back in the wrong order?

Re: It sputters...it dies
I'll check the fuel flow again. The pump seemed to be working fine when I just turned the ignition and had the fuel line going into a petrol can.
When I took off the leads in working on the disc cap, I numbered them and put them back in the same order. The problem was the same before the dis/points change, so it sort of rules that one out.
Dashpot is also fine. Check the oil, and it's the same oil I used when I was in UK. I think she's just mad at me for bringing her to Louisiana.
I'll check the valve gaps today.
Cheers all for the inputs. More to follow...

Re: It sputters...it dies
Sadly, I'm still troubleshooting it. I've double-checked the leads from the dis, checked for spark to the plugs, all fine.
A bit of a loss as what to do next.

Did you check the valve gaps? Best get a compression check on the engine and come back with results. Invest in something like this..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PETROL-ENGINE ... 27d88d2bf1
