Time Traveller

Post by richbrown »

Way back in 1975 my dad found a hole in the floor behind the driver's seat of his Traveller so being the good citizen that he is he decided it needed fixing. In preparation for mending it he drove it into the garage and signed up for welding classes. Now, mentally travelling forward in time 38 years we find ourselves in 2013, my dad is 80, he has a bad hip and his grovelling under the car day's are over, but in the garage lies a 1962 Traveller with about 60k on the dial, dry stored since 1975. The engine can still be turned on the handle but the underneath still needs welding. The wood is good (my dad is a top man when it comes to woodcare, and anyway it was only 13 years old when the garage doors were closed).

He took a wheel off to repair a rear spring hanger where the hole was so its not mobile but does anyone know of a frame type device we could place under the rear of the car to pull it out onto his driveway? He wants to sell it as he wants to empty the garage for another of his projects...he's building a church organ from parts he's accumulated over the years.

Its a 1098cc model with upgraded brakes (servo assisted), that morris blue/grey colour...you know the kind of thing. No pictures as yet, but once we can extricate it, some will follow!

Cheers

I've suggested that...his answer...'oh no it could cause some damage'. As if a big hole in the floor isn't damage enough already! :)

If it was driven into the garage, wheel removed then abandoned with nothing done, you should in theory be able to replace the wheel and push it out. No more damage should occur than a framed trolley being used. You may have to release the brake shoes from the drums though.
