What do I need?

Post by Mollymooz »

Hi

After an initial once over

The morris needs
The complete sill sections all parts both sides
The cross member and jacking points
Full floor

Where can I get these parts and could anyone break this list down to the correct terms like each individual part
Many thanks

It's very difficult to state exactly what you need without actually seeing the car "in the metal"!

ESM do a very good mail order service as do Bull Motif
Try these links each site has pictures of all the panels.

Some pictures would help a lot!
You can't remove all of that lot without bracing the shell very thoroughly.

Replacing the ends of the cross member is a good alternative to doing the whole thing, getting soaked in engine oil helps maintain the middle bit :)

Check this link from MOSS - and note they have 15% off at the moment, so be quick! DO NOT fit jacking points...they are NEVER to be used, even with a new crossmember. Note if you do decide to just fit crossmember end pieces - they are very simple to make yourself, and honestly not worth the asking price to buy them in.... The one I bought (not from Moss at it happens - but likely all the same) was v weak and I spent some time bracing it with strip welds down the side before fitting.

Is the drivers side as bad as the last picture?
You do need just about everything, floors and sills.
The bits under the rear seat can be cut out and new metal welded in.

What is left of the crossmember and what do you know about the cars history, was it parked in the sea for a while :(

Pictures of the front chassis legs and rear suspension mounting points will be good, it's going to be a big project and expensive in time and money to put right I'm afraid.

We can see the shattered remains of the crossmember in that second last picture....... Oh dear - it does need THE LOT.. Be sure to brace the remains of the shell really well.........

Yeah but I doubt the police would be too keen on Fred Flintstone impressions...

There is a lot of work there, as said its probably pretty much every panel you will need. From my recent experiences I have found the ones ESM sell to be good fit and thick metal.

Yes you are right when you said to me yours was in worse shape than mine! Although I can see quite a few similarities in the work they both need doing.

Yes I'll have to get some upgraded photos of the car

The engine looks like new now as does the gearbox

Cheers
