Newbie on the search.

Post by Dr@c »

Hi all, I joined here back in 2010 so thought it was about time I posted something lol. I am yet to be an owner of a moggie but I am on the look out for a project to work on. I was planning to get myself one back when I originally joined but as it does life got in the way. I'm hoping to acquire a moggie that needs restoration as this will be my first resto of my own, so what better motor to cut my teeth on than a good old Morris, my dad had a couple of moggies back in 2004, one of which had previously been restored and another which he was restoring, he was a member of the owners club etc up in Northumberland and he loved it, however the usual happened and mum wanted rid, so unfortunately he had to sell them.

Myself I am after a 52 onwards so either a series II or a 1000, I'm not to keen on the looks of the front end on the MM series, no disrespect to those who own them of course, just personal preference :D I would love a traveller or a van but cash doesn't allow for that expense unfortunately  so to those who have either a traveller or van I envy you and for that reason have taken an instant disliking to you haha  so ill be looking at a 2 or 4 door but preferably a 2 door. I have no experience with restoration and my knowledge of moggies is limited but I look forward to learning, I have also never welded in my life so that should be fun, if anyone has some suggestions on what cheap but decent welders I should be looking at to buy that would be great.

Anyway I think I've droned on long enough and congrats to those who have stayed awake long enough to make it through this post lol. Ill continue to look around here for all the valuable knowledge and info I can get my hands on.

Thanks all, Paul

Hi, yes I have a very adequate garage attached to the house, well lit and mobile heater so I'm all set lol :D I've been all over eBay lately seen a few of interest but I'm trying to be selective as I don't want a complete bucket for me first go lol
