noise when breaking

Post by green123 »

Hello, I have noise coming from the front drivers side break. Its a kind or a rattle/clunking noise and only happens under hard breaking. It happens when your breaking but not too hard. I am unsure what it could be I have changed to drums and that made no difference. Any help would be appreciated.

dampers nice and tight. bushes seem ok and trunnions are fine. Its only on the drivers side and has been there for years but its doing my head in now and would like to know what it is. Could it be anything to do with the tie bar bushes?

That's pretty typical.
Did you turn the locking tabs back when checking the dampers?
You will need a long lever, maybe a bit of scaffold tube to begin to replicate the the amount of force on the suspension when braking.
Hoe does the area around the eyebolt look, any sign of patches?

Has the master cylinder been out and the bolts put in from the inside of the chasis leg? I had this sort of noise on my blue minor as it had the spring washers on the nut side as you would usually do, but they need put under the head side to make the bolt a little shorter and stop it hitting the torsion bar.

Hope that makes some sense :-?

^^^ It's certainly a possibility - must admit, not something I had thought about!
