Internet Scam Regarding Wanted Parts

Post by Annie_1952 »

I am a member of a few forums and thought a warning may be appropriate for a scam that seems to be doing the rounds. I would hate for anyone to be caught out!

You have to be a member of Traction Talk to access pages so I have copied and pasted initial post below:-
The post reads.....
I have been helping a chap in The Netherlands who is looking to scratch build a 6 ton Foden C type. He put a note out asking for information and was contacted by a Michael Chapman offering parts from a Foden wagon he was breaking up. He offered a block for £400 at which point my Dutch friend contacted me. He was then sent a photo of the wagon he was breaking and it turned out to be Joe Dovey's. I rang Joe and he confirmed that he was not breaking anything.

Onderwerp: I am looking for a parts manual of a steam truck. Any information on Foden Steam lorries or where I can obtain any parts manuals or other steam lorry publications gratefully received.
Hello XXXX, I am sorry we are not looking to sell the whole wagon as it's on the list of trucks that will be dismantled this month.
However, I have a attached a photo so you can have a look. Again, if you are still interested in the items, please provide your complete shipping address so I can setup shipping with the courier on this end and I will e-mail details for payment via Money Gram. What's your complete shipping address?
Many thanks again and regards,
Michael
