they don't normally fit that well from th manifold through the bulkhead, not enough clearance

I fitted one many moons ago - it fitted fine, but over the years it did become v noisy - I suspect the internals are perhaps not 'stainless' and rusted away......... I'm using a big bore/straight through exhaust at the moment - it is extremely noisy.....

Fitted a standard pattern s/s system to my Series MM in 1991. Still going strong and quiet which may be because of the extension piece on the tail

I've had three now over the course of 25 years or so.
First one, a chunk 'snapped' out of the manifold flange so wouldn't ever seal again. This I think this is a supporting issue. Second one, pipe broke off at back of box but I believe this is again a supporting issue.
Third one only been on a year but still ok touch wood. First two all showed signs of rusting so quality of stainless was questionable.
One thing I will add is that all were quiet apart from when rear pipe snapped off, then it was loud. Interesting as this is a van exhaust exiting on near side (due to fit issues) and the rear pipe is only a few feet long but without it the noise is very much louder.
