Split screen seen at local tip
Don't get excited - elderly owner was just delivering a trailer load of garden waste.

That's strange R2, the damage doesn't look so bad from here!

place IMG tags around it (using the buttons above the text box when you write a post)

What, like this;???Matt wrote:place IMG tags around it (using the buttons above the text box when you write a post)

Can't remember doing this in the past, used to just use the 'Upload Picture' button at the bottom left of the text box

Re: Split screen seen at local tip
This is getting spooky now. I've uploaded loads of pictures to posts to MMOC in the past.Matt wrote:No - I mean other message boards out in the big wide web...

Does this no longer exist? And therefore the little 'Upload Picture - Browse' button does not work anymore?

Re: Split screen seen at local tip
go to the upload button at the bottom left corner
then choose file then upload by pressing submit
you are right it has always had an upload button
dont know what the others are on about
gee whizz i think its because your pics are far greater in size nowadays and we are living in the past as far as pic size
if you reduce the pixel size you will have better luck[frame]

Re: Split screen seen at local tip
Thanks - I was begining to think I was going crazy! Anyway, tried making the pictures smaller and it makes no difference. What happens is that I go online to MMOC, write my post then I select the photo using the browse button and my browser (Fire Fox)trys to connect (little wheels goes round and round with the legend 'connecting' - but it just continues doing that for several minutes and eventually times out. I'm posting (with pictures) to several other web forums with no problems at all. It's a bit bizarre - there must be a setting wrong somewhere - but I can't find it. Thanks again for letting me know I'm still sane (ish)alexandermclaren wrote:go to the upload button at the bottom left corner

Here you go....

I simply downloaded it and transferred it to 'My Pictures', then picked up with the 'Browse' option on here from there.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Re: Split screen seen at local tip
The upload does work - but the site 'down sizes' the pictures. There's no point storing a picture 3000 pixels x 2000 pixels when they're only going to be shown at 640pixels or so wide. The small image only takes a fraction of the storage space of the large one.
It takes time for the server to scale down the image, so if its busy, your browser (or the server) may 'time out' before it finishes.
If you have problems, making the pictures smaller before you upload them may help.

Thanks, I haven't had this problem before, and I recently tried scaling down a picture but it didn't work either.bpr81a wrote:The upload does work - but the site 'down sizes' the pictures. Let me try again with a very small picture that I succesfully uploaded in the past..........[frame]
And, bingo - it worked

I have a feeling the problem lies with a combination of MMOC server and my ISP (and their server). I recently switched from BT to TT, probably not a perfect move - but halved my bills

Thanks so much for the help - will post with smaller pictures in the future!
Cheers,
Roger
